You see the problem with you Yanks is that the millions you earn is more important than doing something for your own country. No wonder it took 8 years for your Dream Team to win back the gold medal. There is no sense of pride playing for your team. What a shame!

Yams, spot on analysis as always. The Spurs defense has been leaky the entire season, particularly in the interior. It might not be a bad thing for them to bow out in the 1st round this season. Timmy isn’t getting any younger and an early round exit will provide additional needed rest.

Rob423, all I was saying is that everyone in the West with playoff hopes was already in “the rest of the pack below the Lakers” and that included the Spurs. The Spurs are still in that pack, although with a healthy Manu I would have penciled them in for a first round win, but now it’s in question. They might still make it out of the first round (hell, they might even make it to the WCF), but it’s not the slam dunk it was prior to Manu’s injury. But even if Manu was 100% healthy, they weren’t gonna beat the Lakers, not with the lack of defense they’ve been playing all year.

This WildYams guy goes around all the blogs leaving comments trashing the Spurs, so I think he better get someone else to pick on now that his favorite team to back is, in his words, “fighting to make it out of the 1st round.” Nice that you’ve taken the outlook of the intelligent, thinking sports fan and actually WATCHED what the Spurs have done this season in the wake of dealing the whole season without having either Manu, Tony, or Timmy in the lineup, and still managed to be on pace for about 55 wins – like the other secondary (behind the Lakers) Western Conference teams busting their a$$ses to make it to the WCF to be beaten by the Lakers. Why would the Spurs be any worse off than the others, such as Houston, Utah, Portland, or even Dallas (I’ll be generous for you). “WildYams” needs to find another team to take a “realistic” look at, because he certainly isn’t looking in that manner at the Spurs.

Hate to break it to you but they were already there before Manu’s injury. This drops them down to fighting to make it out of the 1st round.

This is a huge blow for the Spurs season. Already they are having so much of problem and the last they need is something like this. As a big fan of his game, I’m really devastated to hear such news. It’s going to really sad to see a playoffs for the first time in almost 6 years without a Manu Ginobili. I’m not sure whether or not the Spurs can post a title challenge depending on both Tim Duncan and Tony Parker alone. But I would most certain love to hear your views on this.
