Apparently, Mo Williams listens to Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight” before each game to get himself appropriately stoked/psyched/amped.
Despite the fact that Phil Collins is very uncool, “In the Air Tonight” is a decidedly awesome song with a sweet drum part and completely meaningless lyrics. Plus, for once in my life, there is an intersection of the NBA playoffs and this video:
You’re welcome.

Just another stolen routine from a Cavs player, much like LeBron stealing KG’s pre-game Chalk-toss, Mo Williams is stealing from KG last season.
I heard this the other day. Welcome to the 2007-08 season, when KG was interviewed and said this same thing. They have been playing it in the Garden for a year and a half.
Phil Collins is “very uncool”? Man, only someone REALLY uncool would dare say that. Phil Collins was granted a ‘ghetto pass’ years ago by Ego Trip, the foremost experts of Hip Hop Journalism. Its well known that Phil Collins music is respected by the “cool”, especially of the NBA.
Sorry Rob, I love the blog but know what you are talking about before you type it.
Black people LOVE Phil Collins, especially in New York. This is a fact.

@Beezy: That’s your compelling argument? Phil Collins is cool because Ego Trip said so? I think I’ll stick with my ears on this one.
I’m also pretty sure that somebody cool probably used Collins as an ironic statement, but nobody got the joke. <3 phil collins ironyxcore
uh…the lyrics are about him watching his brother drown, while his brother’s friend did nothing.
Alien creatures like Phil very much.
@ A U: False.
“Collins said that he is amused at the American ‘urban legend’ that resulted from this song. It had nothing at all to do with drowning. (or murder, or adultery or boating or any other thing) He said, although he really didn’t write it with anything in particular in mind, he was dealing with a recent divorce. He was angry. The drowning reference is obviously anger – “well, if you told me you were drowning, I would not lend a hand”. That is just referring to the explanation of how angry he is – he hates the person so much that he would ignore pleas for help. He did state that he had no specific event of any kind when he wrote this song.”

Ray Lewis also listens to it to get pumped before games
Phil Collins has an overabundance of street-cred. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoLB_U0YPOg&feature=PlayList&p=C69B01061D2C836F&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=10
@Carl: I think the differences between LeBron and KG’s chalk toss are pretty well-documented at this point.
Also, I heard that the Cavs are also going to steal the Eastern Conference Champions routine from the Celts, too. What nerve, eh?
rob has nothing to say after that post from PCFL… haha… phil is “uncool” looks pretty “uncool” in the BTNH video..
