[...] As some of you may remember, I’m a high school basketball coach. To be more specific, I’m a high school basketball junior varsity assistant coach. I have been since the summer. It’s one of the more fun things you could ever do as a hoops nerd like myself. [...]

Hell yes. I coached a couple years of youth (7th/8th grade basketball), and it was one of the most fun things I've ever done. Plus, we went undefeated and won the championship both years, so that was pretty awesome. I LOVED getting the kids to pass, run, and play defense. When the actually did it, there was no better feeling. We played as a team (even our worst player scored significantly), and the last year we beat a team centered entirely around giving the ball to a 6'4" behemoth. We won on a last-second jump shot in a packed gym, and I'm not sure I've ever been part of something more exciting or emjoyable.
I really liked that article.

I know that feeling and love it. It's not the same as basketball (the far superior sport, we can both agree), but I've coached a traveling soccer team for 5-6 years and it's one of the coolest things I've done in my life. The connection with the team. The success. The gut-punching losses. Making the impossible possible. Pretty freaking cool. I wouldn't trade it for anything. (Except maybe a Kings championship. Lol.)

Love the passion in your first article for HP. Glad to see that you're spreading the Zach Harper brand even further.
