That’ll Be All, Byron

Well, Byron, the good news is at least you’re doing better than Isiah ThomasOHWAITHESEMPLOYEDANYOU’RENOT.

BOOM. ROASTED.

Byron Scott took the fall for Hornets today marking one of the fastest slides in NBA History since… um, Avery Johnson. Seriously. Playoff run, Coach of the Year, first round exit, KABOOM. Adding to it this year, though, was his inability to effectively integrate talented rookies Darren Collison and Marcus Thornton. Outside of that, though, you have to wonder how much of this falls on General Manager Jeff Bower, who could also be on the…

Oh, wait, he’s the new head coach. Well then. This is a big ol’ warning sign. The dude that signs James Posey to a huge deal, who hasn’t expunged Peja Stojakovic for pennies on the dollar just to shake him, the dude who determined that the best way to augment their future was to make a slight upgrade in talent at the center position which cost them more money for more years, that dude’s now at the reins of the whole franchise. DANGER, CHRIS PAUL, DANGER. It was fun for you to be good while it lasted New Orleans. Chris, Kevin Garnett’s on line one, something about “To hell with the women and children, get your ass on a lifeboat…”?

Well they have about 10 lifelong benchwarmers on their roster that are on the wrong side of 30, with bad contracts, on top of the fact that their cash strapped and the Hornets have never really been very good anyway(at least in the Shinn era), I'd say the future looks pretty bleak. Imagine if the Chandler/Wilcox trade had worked out, geez.

This does not mean doom and gloom. This does mean that CP will waste his career. Jesus why do people have to portray things like this? I love your writing Mr. Moore, but you know... a very poor start for the Hornets is just that and nothing else - a very poor start. I don't get the "it was fun while it lasted" sentiment. So they had one great year and they can never have one again because they have struggled recently? Come on now.

CP is still at a very early stage in his career, and the New Orleans franchise has a history of being fairly competive. The ship can and will be righted.
