And forget the numbers. Noah’s energy and intensity is swinging games. It’s happening. Joakim’s transformation into a very special player began at the tail end of last season and it’s continuing now. The people who put together the All-Star ballot may not have realized it, but the people of Chicago are starting to. Noah has been the Bulls’ MVP so far this season. It may sound crazy, especially considering his limitations and the fact that Derrick Rose is the team’s franchise player, but it’s true.

McHale slicing and dicing in the recap. One of the key impacts Noah’s making is that he’s not just playing the prototypical big with a few plays here and there that show promise (*cough*Tyrus Thomas* cough*). He’s consistently playing to the very tip of his ceiling. He doesn’t take plays off and when he mentally has a lapse, he’s cursing and killing himself for it. I wish there was a way to measure consistency in play, because even with PER, you can affect it with host and cold streaks. Noah is giving you the same effort, the same production, the same level of play every time he gallops to either end of the floor, and it’s one of the most fun things to watch right now. Also, I applaud McHale’s continuing use of the terrible pun, “Here We “Jo” again.
