“I need to change something. There has to be something I’m doing wrong. I know the (right ankle tendon) injury was something. But it’s taking too long to get back. We’re winning, so I don’t care anything about my game. But if we weren’t winning, I’m playing terrible. I’m not going to the hole like I used to. It seems to me that I’m not that aggressive. But it’s going to change (Thursday night against the Lakers).”

Derrick Rose has made a vow… » By The Horns.

On the one hand, I’m very excited that Rose is smart enough to realize what he’s not doing and brave enough to publicly state it. It would be so much easier just to throw out cliches about effort and finding his way and not be upfront about how he needs to attack. For perspective, he’s taken 7.8 shots per40 minutes from 16-23 feet. That’s more than his “at rim” (4.1), “<10 feet” (1.5) and “10-15 feet” attempts (1.6) combined. That’s part of what’s murdering his efficiency, taking low percentage shots and shooting a low percentage on them.

On the other, Derrick, you’re still recovering from the ankle. And Bynum’s down there. And he’s been much better at controlling his body, but, um, if you go down early out there, IN LA?

GIT TO DEH CHOPPAH, DERRICK! GIT TO DEH CHOPPAH!
