The Frisco D-League team doesn’t have a name, uniforms, or even players, but they’ve already undergone their first substantial change. Del Harris was announced as the team’s first general manager, but Harris was summoned by new Nets’ head coach Kiki Vanderweghe to be his top assistant.

Losing Del Harris is a blow to that team. Having an NBA guy in charge completely changes the direction of the club and having a guy with that kind of coaching experience would have been vital for watching the development of players. Cuban needs to reach into them pockets and find a good replacement and not just a staffer. This is a project that could net them huge results if played right. Dallas’ ability to draft project guys they can develop and then bring up once the core starts to fade could help them to maintain success past the Dirk-era, and that’s something worth spending the money on.

As always, I will find a way to blame Vince Carter for this.
